Overview & Reviews
Lexus gives the LS 430 a midcycle freshening for 2004. Along with mild exterior revisions, the LS gets a number of new standard features, including a six-speed automatic transmission (with a manual-shift gate), adaptive headlights that swivel during turning maneuvers, knee airbags for the driver and front passenger and a moonroof. New options include the Pre-Collision system, which uses radar to detect an avoidable collision, and prepares for impact by tightening up the seatbelts, switching to sport mode on air suspension-equipped vehicles and activating maximum braking pressure. Among the other highlights are SmartAccess, which allows the driver to start up the LS without inserting a key; 18-inch wheels as part of the Sport Package; and a rear backup camera, expanded voice recognition functionality and Bluetooth hands-free phone compatibility on vehicles with the navigation system. An upgraded Mark Levinson stereo now offers seating position-optimized sound, and satellite radio is a new dealer-installed option.
- Superb ride quality, impressive array of standard and optional luxury features, top-notch interior materials, Lexus reliability.
- Not as athletic as some competitors, adding options raises the price to un-Lexus-like levels.

Best car Ive ever owned - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By William Tell - March 15 - 2:00 amIve owned Japanese, German and American cars over my 50+ years and have never owned a better car. The new 2004 replaced (traded in) my 2001 LS430. The braking on the LS is phenomenal. The 04 has improved pads and rotors. The six speed transmission gives the car a 0 - 60 of 5.9 seconds and I swear it is actually faster than that. The keyless entry is wonderful as well. It is very, very convenient to keep the fob in your pocket when you open doors and start the car without having to fumble for a key. The adaptive Front Lighting System (headlights aim where you are going) is great. This is an incredible Drivers Automobile.

Fantastic Car - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By palmjumper - March 8 - 2:00 amThe best car I have ever owned including Cadillacs, Lincolns and even a Rolls Royce. It is fun to drive and the engineering is impressive. There is power when you need it and even massaging back seats. The radar assisted cruise control takes the drugery out of long trips. It automatically slows you down or speeds you up depending on traffic. You can almost "set it and forget it."

Automotive Excellence - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By Farls - January 21 - 10:00 amThe title says it all. After driving big Buicks for years, 11 years ago I acquired my first Lexus, the GS 300. I thought that was an outstanding car again in 1998 and 2001. Then I drove the 2004 LS 430. What a car!

LEXUS LS430 - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By Johnny Lexi - January 21 - 10:00 amThe Lexus LS430 is the best vehicle I have ever driven, and I have driven them all!!! From Prancing Horses to the big Z (Zonda). The LS430 is not the fastest or the quickest or the most frugal on gas consumption, but when you analyze all the pros and cons it is the best - without a doubt.

Car and Driver was correct - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By TonyHarto - September 20 - 2:00 amAfter comparing price and quality, we decided to get Lexus LS430. Later we read in the Car and Driver magazine comparing it with all other luxury cars, they also rated LS430 the best in its class. The drawback is, there is too many electronic gadget that I doubt if anybody could make the full use of. We purchased extended warranty just in case the electronic stuff go haywire.

Best in Class - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By 122469 - September 14 - 2:00 amFor the money, the vehicle is definetely a great purchase. Compared to its competitors there is no question the 430s ride is equally, if not more impressive than the 745 or S class. Save a few thousand dollars w/o sparing luxury.

Nnothing Compares to the LS430 - 2004 Lexus LS 430
By JWW - August 23 - 8:50 amThis is a truly superb vehicle in design, performance and reliability. It is our 3rd Lexus and it is hard to get my wife to let me use it. The seats are fantastic. This is an outstanding highway cruiser with outstanding fuel economy and comfort. We will buy another Lexus when we replace this one.
